Me with my Late Grandmother

Did you know my major is Art Education? Yes. Before becoming a mom, I taught art ages 7-18, for 6 years. I started Pen To Paper out of my love for teaching. And after each class I am reminded of my gift that I deeply miss. Someday I will go back, but today I am mom. Over the past few years with Pen To Paper I have been beyond blessed to teach over a 1,200 people brush calligraphy! How crazy is that?! But, I am not going to lie towards the middle of last year I was getting burnt out on it. I have so many other talents when it comes to art and I WANT TO SHARE THEM WITH YOU!

So, for 2018, I am changing it up!

I am going to be offering a variety of classes. My plan is to have all my classes set up every 2-3 months. I also am lowering my price point, and opening up more spots. OH and I am going to have classes geared towards children and towards You + Your Child.

I hope you guys are as excited as I am. Don’t worry I will still be offering my Brush Calligraphy classes, after all, they are what started this business.

So here’s to 2018, Let’s Do This!

UPDATE: The online class portion has closed. If you would like to sign up please visit my yellow she-shed in the Centennial Building. Feel free to email me also at pentopaper.co@gmail.com to see if there is an open spot.

I am proud to announce I am one of the businesses that was asked to teach a “Make It, Take It” Workshop at the upcoming OKC Home + Garden show. I went back and forth on what to teach, as I only have a one hour time slot for each class. I am really excited about my choice!

I will be teaching how to make the above, hand lettered wall hanging. You will get to take home everything, including the wooden hanger! Below are the class times and guess what…?! They are all FREE! Yes you read that right! Normally, this class would be around $40 so jump on the chance and sign up! You do have to pay to enter the show and you can buy tickets here or at the door. So click a date and time and sign up!

Every year the holiday season seems to fly by. Last year I had an excuse with a newborn, but this year I am going to try and be more meaningful. So, to help me, I decided to make this printable to fill out every night at dinner with my family. I am very blessed that we all still sit and eat dinner with each other almost every night. Harrison is finally getting more “involved” and I am loving the dynamic he gives our family.

So enjoy your free Thanksgiving printable; there is a line for every day of November. I can’t take credit for the hand drawn icons (which I found here), but I will take credit for the cute calligraphy and layout. 😉

So you may be wondering why I started this blog. I have been creating art on Instagram and Facebook for over two years. So why this? I feel like I have more to say. I am much more than just art. I am

  • A Follower of Christ
  • A Wife
  • A Mom
  • A Daughter
  • A Friend
  • A Lover of All Things Arts and Crafts
  • A Supporter of All Things Local

So from now on, not only here, but on Instagram and Facebook I will be showing you a little more about me. I think that by you knowing the person behind the art will help us connect more on another level.

So, join me on this crazy new adventure. I promise to keep on posting, if you promise to not judge my grammar…

At the end of last year I was contacted by our family photographer, Emily Hart with Nina and B Photography. She had mentioned she had contacted Metro Family magazine about highlighting my family for a feature in an upcoming issue. Ummmmm okay? How cool is that?!

So the sweet editor/writer, Hannah Schmidt, came to my house a couple months later to conduct my interview. And, can I tell you how amazing and down to Earth she is? She too had just had a little boy and I loved chatting with her. She made me feel 100% comfortable and I loved hosting her in our home.

If you haven’t taken one of my classes or know me personally let me tell you something about myself. I RAMBLE! My husband, Tanner, tells me I come by it honestly from my mom… Isn’t that sweet of him to say… Anyways, yes I ramble. She was so patient with me and turned all my run-on sentences into a beautifully written article about my life as a mom, wife, and business owner.

Now, having shots taken of you a month postpartum with all the lovely baby weight hanging around is never a favorite for anyone. But then for those pictures to be seen by everyone in a huge magazine. Let me just say that had to take some mind over matter thinking, that’s for sure!

I hope you take the opportunity to go over to their website and read my interview and see a little into my life. It’s kinda surreal!
