My Love of the Brush Pen

I started teaching calligraphy in 2012 as a high school art teacher. I taught classes full of students traditional pointed pen… what was I thinking?! Oh and did I mention I was 30+ weeks pregnant with my first child, Lorelai? After having her I missed calligraphy and knew there had to be a better way to hand letter without the mess (since I had enough of that at home with a newborn)… Enter the amazing brush pen! I have hundreds, YES hundreds. And throughout my BLOG and social media accounts I hope to show you some of my favorite ones. I have tested them ALL and have even had some shipped from Australia (yes I am addicted). Thanks for joining me on this adventure!

What is Brush Calligraphy?

Brush Calligraphy is a fun and quick way to create modern and traditional calligraphy without all the hassle of traditional pens and nibs. You will be able to create beautiful calligraphy with just one pen!

PROS and CONS of Brush Calligraphy vs. Traditional Pen and Nib Calligraphy:

PROS

  • You only need one tool to create beautiful handwriting.
  • There is no need for elaborate methods for prep and cleanup.
  • You can do this anywhere; at a table, on the couch, or in a car.
  • If you are left handed, you can do this! No smeared ink.

CONS

You will become addicted to all things pens and markers. You’ve been warned.
